Discover new treatment for knee pain with VSA
Vascular Surgery Associates are happy to be a part of the Power of Age Expo to share valuable care options with you, like Genicular Artery Embolization (GAE).
Genicular Artery Embolization (GAE) is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat knee pain, most often from arthritis. Instead of open surgery, a doctor places a tiny tube, called a catheter, into the blood vessels that supply the knee and guides it using X-ray imaging. Very small particles are then released into these vessels to reduce excess blood flow around the inflamed area of the knee. This helps calm down inflammation and ease pain.
The procedure is usually done through a small pinhole in the skin, does not require major surgery and patients can go home the same day. GAE is an option for people who still have pain despite other treatments and are not ready or able to undergo a knee replacement.
To learn more about this care option for your knee pain, you can attend one of their presentations at Expo in North Hall at the following times: 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

MPT brings resources to enrich our lives
Visit Maryland Public Television (MPT) at the Power of Age Expo and learn more about how we enrich lives and strengthen communities through the power of media. Stop by our booth throughout the day to learn more about our community engagement initiatives, special events, and PBS programs such as Caregiving and Ken Burns’ American Revolution. Ask us how to participate in our ‘Letter to Future Generations’ project!
What’s more – MPT’s Maryland Center of Media Literacy and Education will be onsite to present important tools and resources that promote best practices when engaging with media. We encourage people to use our Media STEPs as a reminder:
• Speak to others if you’re unsure about something online,
• Think critically about media,
• Educate yourself about new platforms
and technologies, and
• Protect your personal information.
In a series of mini-workshops throughout the day, we’ll offer strategies for strengthening our critical muscles to better understand the media messages we receive. To learn more about MPT, visit their website at www.mpt.org.
